  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing on pie)
  • 1 tablespoon raw sugar (for topping pie)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare apples by peeling and slicing them thinly. Toss with lemon juice and zest.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and optional spices.
